The Polytechnic was established in the year 2014 as College of Technical and Commercial Agriculture at Isan-Ekiti by Dr John Kayode Fayemi led Government of Ekiti-State with focus on middle-level manpower development in the Agricultural sector, but this was truncated by the subsequent Administration.

Dr. John Kayode Fayemi was however re-elected as the Governor of Ekiti State in 2018, and on assumption of office, the Governor reiterated his commitment to the vision behind the establishment of the College and the development of agriculture which is one of the four-point agenda of his administration. This led to the college re-enactment in 2019 under the provision of the Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti (Re-enactment) Law, No.6 of 2019.

The Polytechnic officially kicked-off in September 2019 with four courses at the ND (National Deiploma) level. They are ND Accountancy, ND Agric Technology, ND Computer Science and ND Electricla & Electronics Engineering.

The Polytechnic presently runs full time National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in four schools. They are:

1. To establish Schools, Departments and other Units of learning and research for the purpose of producing well qualified graduates who are morally, intellectually and socially sound for global human development
2. To promote high-level technological innovations and research
3. To promote equal opportunities in skills acquisition, knowledge and technology
4. To promote best enabling and conducive environment for technological practices
5. To broaden economic opportunity through knowledge sharing, innovation, uses of natural resources and development of human capital
